Regardless of whether we trust them or not, my world has magical curatives that can bring people back from the dead under the right circumstances. I think it is entirely possible that magic with the ability to do that on a larger scale or magic that could turn back the passage of time is available to either our hosts or may exist on one of the many worlds we've all been brought from.
