King Narciso's charm had worn off and Kai was left with the horrifying realization that his bracelet that suppressed his magic was gone. He stuck to the edges of the party so he didn't draw attention to the glowing eyes he could no longer hide. The stormy tangle of dark purple, magenta and light blue resonated with the panic he was barely keeping in check and his eyes sharply glowed brighter as he warily glanced at the other guests. He would be killed for his magic back home. A part of him knew it was different here but the scars of having to hide in the shadows his whole life didn't disappear overnight.

The ancient tree he took shelter under reminded him of simpler days when he was just a shy farm boy. The orchid he wore drew his thoughts back to the night he fled home and Finn's heartbreaking smile as he sacrificed himself, tricking the mage hunters into thinking he was the mage so Kai could get away. His eyes softly burned brighter with his regret. He didn't fight it when his emotions resonated with his magic and pulled his consciousness into the weightless embrace of his magic, making everything else fade under the rush of magical energy and emotion.

Everything felt like when you see something out of the corner of your eye when he was like this, except with more certainty. He couldn't see details though so he didn't notice the tree he sat under had a face until he heard their rumbling voice through the tree he rested against. His eyes sparked with startled glow as he quickly took a step back with a small chuckle. "Sorry. I thought you were a normal tree."
