"Direct is how things get done." Not that Steve can't give a good inspiring speech and stir emotions but he does believe that being straight forward and honest is a lot more helpful in the long run than talking circles around an issue.

He considers the Lawspeaker again. "They're elected by both courts. They said as much. They're likely neutral in this whole thing. That's a lot easier to work with than someone invested."

They might have their own reasons for being invested but they won't necessarily have a side. Steve thinks he can work with that.
