This woman seems kind. It reminds her, in some ways, of Gabriela — she can't put her finger on how, exactly. Their accents are very different, they look very different, but something in the way she acts feels the same. A trait Laura doesn't quite have the word for, or if she does, she cannot associate the word to the feeling. It'll come to her eventually, but not yet.

In the meantime, Rogue's question seems to puzzle her. Does she ask because she's curious, or to make them even? Does she owe this, because she saw one of Rogue's memories? Or is this something that's supposed to help make her feel better? She can't tell the motive right away, can't tell if this is a trick in and of itself, but-

Maybe it's fair to make them even. She doesn't have to tell everything. Maybe telling will help Rogue to know she understands how it feels to lose someone, even if she still doesn't understand the context behind the loss.

"My father died," she says simply, quietly. As though this vague and empty statement in any way encompasses the size of it all. "It was like your memory. Not very nice."
