As soon as Spike felt more than saw her go stiff, he knew something was wrong. It had him flicking his cigarette into the dirt and stomping it out. Diana's sound was painful--and he could guess she wasn't seeing something good. So he looked but saw nothing but ground in front of them. Tilting his head somewhat, and closing his eyes, Spike sniffed as well.
Nope, just the two of them and the ambient scents of the hedge. Nothing unexpected close to them. Damn.
"Diana." He kept his voice even. "Diana, I'm going to touch your arm alright? Try not to freak." Spike warned, before reaching for her upper arm and shoulder. Just laying a hand there, trying to ground her a bit. "Whatever you're seeing, it's not real."
