Kelson wasn't a stranger to parties, especially ones in his honor. Being king of a very large country did that. What he was unfamiliar with was being abducted in the middle of a campaign where he had been literally surrounded by his own army. He was almost as safe there as he was in his castle. The boy-king quickly adapted a bored expression on his face, after polite, diplomatic chit chat and overtures got him absolutely no where. Not just about to cause a diplomatic incident, he took his plate, piled it with an assortment of food and tried not to look like he'd rather be anywhere but here. Parties were not his forte. At all. He'd much rather be in the library. And apparently there was one.
But he couldn't exactly leave the party in his honor. Right? He had been raised better than that. And here he didn't exactly have anyone he could give the 'honor' of sitting at table for him. He reached out with his mind to double check the contents of the food before popping something in his mouth.
He'd been trying to truth-read the Lawspeaker as she addressed them, but couldn't get a good read. Magic was like that. Especially if partial truths were being told. Or if the subject was shielding and adept at magic. Looking around him, both were a possibility. So the King of Gwynedd didn't react when he was told his loved ones were dead. The truth couldn't be ascertained, and words could always be twisted.
In fact, he looked very, very bored.
"They certainly know how hold attention, whether or not it's true."
