Nancy feels someone brush next to her, and immediately, her hand goes to her pocket. All that's in there had been an old note from one of the artisans at the market, so she doesn't speak harshly. Just reaches to grab the wrist of the person, just so they know that she knows. Then, she really looks at the person she's holding. The girl can't be any older than her, has the look of a starving child about her. Instantly, Nancy's heartstrings are tugged.
"You don't have to pay for them," she tells the girl. "There's no money here- everything is bartered or traded." And Nancy had been taking advantage of that, with regular trips to the market to indulge. She had stories and songs to share, some cool rocks, and that made her rich for once in her life. While her clothing still erred on the simple side, her dress was a beautiful dark rose, with flowers pooling at the hem.
"Take whatever you'd like." Because clearly this girl needed the same permission Nancy herself had been given. "Just don't eat too much and make yourself sick. That's no way to start out here."
