🦋 Introduction

Welcome to the Pixie Led Test Drive Meme!

The prompts will always be game canon, provided both characters who participate in a thread are either already in the game, or get accepted in the next application round.

You do not need an invitation to join the Test Drive Meme, it's open for anyone!

Please indicate character name and canon in the subject line of your top-level. For current characters, you may also indicate your character's court.

For prospective players, Invites open on the 18th, Reserves on the 20th, and Applications on the 22nd. Thanks for checking us out and we hope you'll join us!

🦋 The Party

You wake up at a party.

You're not sure how, exactly, you got here. You may have just been walking in the woods or at a meeting for work or doing any other normal activity for you. But you know you weren't supposed to be at this party, you're fairly certain.

Anyone you ask about it will say the party is for you. You and the others also waking up and looking confused. Further questions will lead to the partygoers insisting you have something to eat. You're starving and others are eating the food without repercussion, so you figure there's no harm in a bite. You finish your portion.

It's another garden party near a large hedge maze in the middle of the night. With his penchant for games the Ruler of the Spring Court decided it would be nice to hold an actual game for all the Adopted present. None of that dreidel game a couple of parties ago. This time, he wants more spectacle with higher stakes. Forced to participate and host aspects of this gathering as well, the Ruler of the Dark Court wanted nothing to do with this, so he figured his participation in itself is for the party to happen at night, during his rule, when his mood is at its most pleasant.

Of course, there is no shortage of light sources such as candles and torches, much to the Earl's chagrin, as well as no shortage of food. This time, the fae decided to try their hand on some pasta. They heard it's a good delicacy from the mortal plane. Thing is, sauces look and smell bizarre. One's purple, while another's bright pink, and they taste fruity, as well as flowery, much like the cookies from the last gathering.

As the party winds down and everyone's eaten, a tall, stately woman stands up and speaks. You feel her voice more than hear it.

I am the Lawspeaker of the Fae, elected by Seelie and Unseelie alike, and you are all, now, subjects of Faerie. You cannot leave this realm once you have eaten our food, and even if you could, there is no saying how much time has passed back where you're from. Your loved ones are likely dead, your problems have likely played out. We require assistance in various matters, and each of you has been chosen for your talent and skill. You will be adopted by one of the Seelie or Unseelie Courts based on your strengths and personality. Your Court will decide what to do with you from there.

As suddenly as she stood, she sits back down.

🦋 Feeling on Hedge

So, what about this hedge maze that seems to have appeared out of nowhere and looming quite eerily beside this night's gathering? For one, peculiar noises can be heard whenever one's near its entrance. From the rustling of leaves to a woman crying, everything seems to be coming from inside.

Of course, the Adopted's participation is required and paramount. Anyone who refuses will be met with harsh penalties and consequences, whatever those may be. They also hint of a prize to anyone who comes out victorious on the other side. It's unclear what it is, though.

The fae know that while the Adopted have been very useful so far, they are also vulnerable and susceptible to fear, so to mitigate that, they have some colorful shots on a table marked LIQUID COURAGE near the entrance to the maze with such effects:

  • Gold: Essentially a strong drink that gives you profound energy for 24 hours.
  • Red: Downing this will make you feel warm like an aphrodisiac.
  • Blue: Basically functions like a normal tequila shot. Or three. Comes with a little bag of salt.

These shots are not compulsory for the Adopted to take, but they will be highly encouraged to do so before entering. Once inside, the rustling of leaves and the sounds of someone crying become louder and even more evident. There are also a few key things that seem to be very clear the longer an Adopted is within the maze's walls:

  • The maze is moving. How it's doing it, nobody knows. But it appears to be alive somehow, much like the castle grounds, so finding a clear pathway is almost impossible.
  • Whenever an Adopted turns right two consecutive times, they will see a more positive outcome from a terrible event in their lives. Lost someone? They're now here and alive. Gave up on a dream? You find yourself currently living it.
  • If an Adopted turns left two consecutive times, they will see someone, a family member or a friend who's still alive and had a deep impact on their lives, bleeding and dead on the ground.

It would be great if no one else can see an Adopted during their most vulnerable, but since the maze moves constantly, another Adopted or two might be able to see them trying to parse out what they're seeing, even if their fellow Adopted can't see it themselves.

🦋 Can't Unseelie It

CW: dismemberment, body horror, forced body transformations, mild gore, asphyxiation, drowning of children, death

The Spring King only wanted some good-natured fun within the maze, but unbeknownst to him, some Unseelie creatures and Unseelie magic have appeared inside, threatening the safety of the Adopted traversing every nook and cranny. Surely this will not have any lasting consequences between the relationship of the Seelie and Unseelie court rulers. Not at all.

A few of these Unseelie beings and Unseelie magic roaming around the hedge maze that the Adopted will have a chance to meet are as follows:

  • Manananggal: Capable of severing its torso from its legs, this vampiric creature usually preys on sleeping pregnant women and unborn babies. But not anymore. Due to magic put on it, this manananggal will strike anyone it comes across. Better pour salt on its severed lower torso once you find it, or else.
  • La Llorona: Remember that woman crying? Well, somewhere in the maze alongside the eerie sounds of water flowing, you'll come across a weeping woman cloaked in white with her back turned against you. Be careful not to approach her because once you do, she'll try to choke you to death, reminiscent of how she drowned her own children.
  • Jersey Devil: The first thing you'll hear once you turn is a high-pitched, blood-curdling scream then the sound of bat wings flapping. You better run as fast as you can to the other direction because this devil is out to attack anyone it sees on its path.
  • A fountain: How odd. Running from the jersey devil or the manananggal might have made you thirsty so perhaps there's no harm in drinking from it. But just coming in contact with its water will make any Adopted soon realize they have transformed into an Unseelie creature.

Fighting off these creatures might be best with a fellow Adopted. After all, there's power in numbers. Just be careful not to die within the hedge maze. There might be some dire consequences.

🦋 GEIS

You feel a vibration in your pocket sometime after the Lawspeaker addresses everyone. When you search for the source, you will pull out your Leaf, the device the Fae use to stay in touch with each other. Anyone who's used a smart phone will easily recognize how it works.

Greetings, Adopted. This is your Lawspeaker.

To be on theme with our festivities for tonight, we want to know a time in your life when you felt lost and wandering about. Perhaps the most compelling story will receive a reward from us.

Akechi-kun is here?
He's really just following us at this rate, isn't he?

Should you really be throwing stones about that?

I do understand not being particularly happy to see him, though.

Probably not.

He just seems to be everywhere, I suppose.

I suppose he does have the kind of public profile that makes it possible. [And he made it his business to keep on top of the Phantom Thieves' doings.

And none of them are particularly subtle, despite their best efforts to the contrary.]

The last thing she expects to hear is the voice of the queen. Even more alarming is the fact that when she finally rounds the corner, she is treated to the sight of the other young woman armed and appearing fully prepared to crawl out of her own skin. A part of her both pities her and mourns the woman she could have become if fate did not intervene. Browbeaten, subservient and trapped with hands, she notes, that are marred by circumstance and powerlessness. Once upon a time she would have reached out, taken those hands, and brought them to her lips to soothe the ache left behind.

"Do you intend to take my life so soon after your declaration?" Where Alicent is a skittish bird ready to take flight Rhaenyra is the steadfast cat ready to pounce even though she looks to be ever nearer to exhaustion. Another occasion unceremoniously tarnished by the one she once loved above all others; she would rather deal with the shrieking woman, a thousand suitors or a limitless army of foreign invaders than what stands before her now. As if testing Alicent's resolve, she takes a step forward so the tip of the dagger rests squarely against the bodice of her gown.

"I am not the one playing games, stepmother. There are no castle walls or Kingsguard to hide behind here, you would do well to keep silent in this maze. If you wield a dagger, then do so with the intention of striking a mortal blow." Unyielding and determined, she pins her beneath her gaze long enough for a quarter of a minute to pass unnoticed. Rather than prolong a conversation that she believes neither of them are in the mood for she retreats a step, turns on a heel and promptly shows Alicent her back. A dangerous choice if there was a predator in their midst but, between the pair of them, the one in possession of the blade does not have the conviction to see it through.

Just when it seems like she intends to leave her to the horrors within the maze she pauses and glances over her shoulder, waiting. It is not love that guides her intent now but duty.

"If you have a proper sword, leave it and be on your way. I am no one's entertainment." Rhaenyra utters through gritted teeth, shooting the unfamiliar visage a look capable of putting at least one of his feet into the grave. Intriguing, perhaps, that he insists on keeping his distance rather than intervening on sight. It means he is either a coward, enjoys the sight of a woman struggling or, rarer still, he is giving her a wide berth to allow her to finish the kill herself.

Once she feels the beast's weight lift, she gives its body an extra kick to propel herself back against the maze with her laughable weapon in tow. Out of breath and still riding the unparalleled high of her fight or flight response she uses her free hand to scrub some of the gore off of her face and take stock of her throat. The pinpricks dotting her flesh are a small price to pay to live another day and with begrudging acceptance she reaches out, takes his hand and rises to her feet again.

Where his gaze is brief, she makes it a point to narrow her eyes in thought as she studies his face, paying particular mind to the eyepatch and scar lingering beneath. As regal as a princess can be she smooths out a wrinkle in her skirt, attempts to fix her hair, clears her throat and levels her stare as if everything that just befell her comes as naturally as a breath.

In a final attempt to reclaim the glory of her stolen kill she grabs her skirts and lifts them just enough to uncover her foot before kicking the severed head of the creature down the length of the maze ahead of them. "Ivestragī īlva sagon gaomagon rūsīr bisa." Even a wraith wouldn't be foolish enough to wear the face of a Targaryen, but it doesn't hurt to check. Enemies are capable of many disguises.

"I believe you," Drake sounds a little distracted, glancing off to the side as they move, "humans don't tend to come back when they turn into mist. Most people of any species I've ever met don't, rather. So whatever you are, you must be quite different from what I'm used to."

He's seen a lot of weird things, especially with the mage storms wreaking havoc in the wilds. But Kiriya is pretty unique, to him. And he looks extremely human, while the other sentient and sapient species of Amberdrake's own world very much do not.

"Right at the next intersection if we can," he adds, "or straight. There's something to our left. Distant, but we should keep it that way. It's very... angry, but there's no focus to it."

[ An unspoken contract sealed by food? It reminded Thanos of a few byzantine myths in a few different cultures regarding hosting traditions. So he was to be prisoner to creatures of obscure folk traditions, was he?

Thanos was powerful, but he has seen powers that dwarf even his own. Starting a confrontation here is perhaps counter-intuitive. He would be better served waiting; gathering information; choosing a time and place to strike.

He overhears Harley speaking to herself. An interesting line of inquiry. ]

...Unless the inability to warn newcomers is a part of the contract we have unwittingly signed ourselves onto.

[ He says it more to himself than to Harley, but he speaks at his normal volume, which is to say, not to himself at all. ]

I'm skeptical of any kind of organized resistance from our motley lot. And I'm skeptical of the methods how. The bottom line is we know far too little about our erstwhile 'hosts' to really know what's effective or not. Doesn't mean we don't just 'not try', just means we should be strategic and keep track of what we DO try.

I feel like any effective resistance is going to be a multi-part and multiple-person's organized. But that's gonna be hard to get going. Especially when people are 'comfortable'.

Thanos the Mad Titan 🫰 MCU

[personal profile] thefiftypercent 2025-06-13 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
The Party

Thanos is pleasantly surprised to wake up from non-existence. He rather vividly recalls the face of Tony Stark utilizing the Infinity Stones to remove him and his army from the alternate universe that Thanos was in the process of invading. Quite a disappointing moment, if he was being completely honest.

So, was he physically transported here by the stones? Perhaps some error on Stark's part? Is this some kind of demi-plane where all things wished away by the stones go? Or is this some place special, a place where his Destiny had determined he had work yet to do?

If the latter, it seemed that he was not alone in this. There are others, looking just as confused as he.

"You," he says, singling out the closest Adopted. "What do you last remember?"

The Maze

Thanos is not afraid of anything this maze has offered. He cares nothing for the cries of helpless women. He has no fear of unknown creatures. As far as he is concerned, he is the scariest thing entering this maze. And he is certainly not afraid to be the monster someone encounters.

This maze is full of other adopted. He is interested in collecting data, and collecting tools. Perhaps there are Adopted that have useful technology he can take. And if nothing else, the other adopted can be useful for his experiments. What happens if one of these adopted die in this place? He is excited to find out.

Hard to tell. [ And that's definitely a more than slightly resigned tone. ] The fact that it moves makes it hard to track. And who knows if the goalposts get moved every time we get close.

[ He wouldn't put it past their hosts, anyway. ]

Hell, maybe there isn't even an exit.

Not mist, exactly, but the rest of it is fair enough so Kiriya's not going to quibble. He does have to wonder what exactly his new friend is used to, but there's no reason to start the interrogation immediately.

It's a good thought, except for how Kiriya has to slant him a thoughtful look almost immediately. "You can tell that?" It's not a doubtful question, so much as curious.

"Special skill," Drake returns with a small smile, despite the stress of the situation.

He doesn't leave it hanging at that, though.

"More specifically, I am an Empath. The hunger, rage, and grief of our friends is very... loud."

Granted, part of that is because he's lowered his shields below normal, but... well, he must have been very distracted indeed, to not have known the moment he'd had company. Which is no surprise to Drake, really. He knows how easily he can be overwhelmed, even if he doesn't show it.

[personal profile] amurderofcrow 2025-06-13 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
They just keep trickling in.

The Akechi that approaches Makoto isn't anything like the Goro Akechi she knows - there's no artificial sweetness to him, no condescending little smile, no pleasant lilt of his voice - instead, he seems irritated, mouth pressed into a thin line, his body language closed rather than open.

"Niijima." Her surname drawled out as if he was bored. Akechi's dressed like the rest of the fae in this place, in tight clothing with too many laces. "I should have expected you would come trailing in after the rest."
tutoroftactics: (think)

[personal profile] tutoroftactics 2025-06-13 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"A-Akechi-kun?" This is not the Goro Akechi she knows at all. His entire energy is different, but at the same time, still felt so similar.

She takes a moment to take him in, his clothing tighter than she's ever seen him in, a fantastic tunic. The fashion here was really something different- a mishmash of every fantasy film she'd ever seen. The freckles catch her eye, but she says nothing about his appearance. That would be rude. But she sees. And honestly, he doesn't look bad.

At least he's ditched the sweater vest. Even Makoto knew that was a fashion don't.

"I didn't expect to see you here." She's on the back-foot and she hates it. This whole place has her thrown off. "Who else do we know here?" If Akechi was here, perhaps some of the other Phantom Thieves were, too.

[personal profile] amurderofcrow 2025-06-13 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Um, fucking excuse you, the sweater vests are iconic.

But Makoto answers him and Akechi knows in an instant that she's arrived from before October. That puts her at quite the disadvantage, doesn't it? He could use that knowledge to his advantage and make the girl sweat, but he's all but a Phantom Thief in name for now, so he'll be nice or whatever.

"Nearly all of us. Amamiya, Sakura, Kitagawa, Yoshizawa, Okumura - the cat as well. Most of us have been trapped here for some months now."

[personal profile] tutoroftactics 2025-06-13 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
The sweater vests make you look like you belong on an episode of Glee. And not in a good way.

Yes, it does, and honestly, she doesn't expect him to be nice. Oh, he's always been pleasant, but not nice.

And he says us, like he's a Phantom Thief! She stores that little bit of information away for later. "Morgana," she tells him. "The cat's name is Morgana."

"How have you been here longer than me, but arrive from a time later than me?" You're the detective, don't you know these things?

[personal profile] amurderofcrow 2025-06-13 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Late September. Then it was before that particular incident and the dominos effect it started. As far as this version of Makoto is aware, Akechi doesn't even have a persona, much less extensive knowledge of the Metaverse.

"First, how much have you learned about this place? I refuse to waste our time going over facts you've already dug up yourself. Tell me what you know and I'll reciprocate."
tutoroftactics: (regrets)

[personal profile] tutoroftactics 2025-06-13 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Not that much, unfortunately," she has to admit. But she's a big girl, she can admit when she doesn't you know something. That's how you learn.

"I only know what the Lawspeaker said. I knew I shouldn't have tried that pasta."
